Me and my squad of ultimate badasses will protect you! Check it out!

Deathwatch project complete! Well, first deathwatch project... I think I am very likely to revisit this army as the Corvus is an AWESOME kit to build...

So first up is first squad, funnily enough. Sgt Apone has an auspex and a flamer, Crowe is also armed with a flamer... Vasquez has the deathwatch frag cannon, and Wierzbowski and Hudson just have Boltguns - although Hudson is also the Blackshield to represent the shame of cowardice followed by the redemption of his rampage shortly before his demise.

We then have second squad, Cpl Hicks there with his shotgun, Drake with the deathwatch frag cannon, Dietrich with a flamer, Frost with a boltgun, and they are joined by Ripley who has an infernus Heavy Bolter - able to fire flame, bolts, and grenades, very fitting.

And the entire team, all together. Under kill team rules I can take first squad with a razorback or second squad with a rhino. The Corvus won't fit, though perhaps I might scrape them into some other small scale thing together...

Anyway, it's getting late, I'd best be logging off, cos they mostly come out at night. Mostly.

Deffskulls: Test Game of FLuffagedddon List

On Tuesday at Geek Club I got in a test game with the list I plan to take to fluffageddon. My opponent was using a list of 8 venerable space wolf drop pods and 7 drop pods... so not even remotely close to anything I shall have to actually face at Fluffageddon, but I didn't ask him to follow the same restrictions I'll be playing to - if I can make the list work when against anything my opponents want to bring then hopefully it'll be easier when my opponents have the same restrictions I do...

I took several pictures of the game, but mostly of my stuff cos his stuff wasn't painted. It was also rather haphazard in nature so they won't tie in with the overall game description.

We were playing the maelstrom mission 6, where you start with lots of objectives and get an ever decreasing number. A great mission for a force with the rugged survivability and excellent armour saves that orks possess...

Knowing my buggies with big shootas were largely irrelevant for this game, they just ran round scoring objectives. My lootas, tankbustas and shock attack gun just did their best to hurt the incoming armour.

I took down several of them, and most of the pods (sometimes the pods were just a better target, as an immobilised result was an extra hull point off the pod, against the dread it'd probably be rerolled anyway...)

Eventually however, the field was pretty much his. I was solidly ahead on points and knew I just had to survive to win, but to give him a fighting chance I ran my buggies into the middle of the table to score an objective, giving him the chance to kill them with his dread. Given the scoreline (it finished 16-8 to me) this was completely unnecessary, but I was against one of the clubs less experienced players, and similar to how as a Man Utd fan I would never want us to run the ball into the opposition corner when playing against Watford (different mater if 1-0 up against Barcelona) I didn't want to do the wargaming equivalent to him. The game ended turn 6 with me just having my blastajet left. We played out turn 7 out of interest, but I still survived. The critical moment though was his last shot of turn 6 - his multimelta hit... it penetrated... I hadn't jinked (foolishly) as I forgot the KFF isn't as good as the jink save... so I was only on a 5+... I made it. We rolled his damage roll out of interest, he would have exploded me winning the game from a tabling.

So a solid points win, a scraped by the skin of the teeth model count win... sounds like most of my ork wins if I'm honest. Hopefully be able to get a couple more games in over the next few weeks to test the list further.

Some notes however... the dread and gorkanaut were rubbish! To be fair, they're only in the list as I like the conversions, but both of them were whipped in a single round of combat without even getting to strike by the space wolf dreadnaught. And the space wolf dreadnaught had a 3++ save anyway, even if I had lived long enough to take a swing at him... suffice to say, I'm not expecting them to do too much at the tournament.

You've had your chance, Gorman!

Here is my rhino/razorback... I feel I can use it as either depending on the points limit of the game I'm playing, assuming killteam size games. Sadly the turret is fixed, but I think it represents what I'm going for quite well...

We're in the pipe, five by five...

So, painted my Corvus the other day...

Here she is, tail number 5X5...

She's doing a drop on something V four two something...

The squad she carries have an artistic eye, the little tinkers...

An admittedly quite witty artistic eye...

Although the pilot may lack a little patience...

Deffskulls: Warbuggies

Found these little beauties on a third party miniatures site, pretty much as they come apart from the rockets I added to the unarmed ones. Counts as warbuggies, perfect...

I also converted a counts as Truk, though I still kinda need to play a guard player before I can really use it... however it is in my tournament list for fluffageddon, so I may have to wing it. As I'm pretty much the only guard player I know, I may have to just say I looted my own supplies with that one ;)

Fluffageddon: The List

So I've finally fine-tuned my list for Fluffageddon... let me rephrase that, I've taken the list I did last time that I realised had broken several rules in the list comp pack, and made a legal version...

Here it is.

Single CAD force, single codex, with as many guns as physically possible...

Warlord Big Mek Kustom Force Field Finkin Kap - 95
Big Mek Shok Attack Gun, Gitfinda, 3 ammo runts, Bosspole - 104

10 Boyz with shootas - 70
10 Grots 1 Runtherd - 35

12 Tankbustas, 1 Nob BP, 2 Tankhammers, 1 bomb squig - 206
dedicated transport - truk, ram, rokkit - 35

Wazzbomm Blastajet, Kustom Force Field, Tellyporta Blasta, Gitbusta - 190
3 Warbuggies Big Shootas - 75
2 Warbuggies Rokkits - 50

Deffdredd, skorcha - 85
Gorkanaut - 245
15 Lootas - 210

Aegis line with Quad Gun - 100
So the basic idea is... lot's of guns. Sit on a couple home objectives with the Lootas, the SAG... run the buggies into peoples faces in the hope that it will attract attention away from the truk full of tankbustas that will be headed for a nice high value target. Hopefully the limitations of the Gorkanaut will be less exposed by the fact that there won't be any super heavies walking around to bitch-slap it. And most important of all, play the mission not the man. Or most likely, marine. I could potentially keep the buggies in reserve but I think that might make the truk into too obvious a turn 1 target - let's give the enemy some options here. But we shall see.
With a few weeks to go, all I have to paint are a few warbuggies and I'm set. Let's hope this time it doesn't get cancelled from under me the minute I get the last model finished like last year...
The final question is, with two painted deffdredds, do I go for the more dangerous looking one, or the more comical one?

Deffskulls: Progress

So over the past couple weeks I've got a few units done, I'm aiming to get a 1500 point specific army done before the middle of a November for a tournament.

So we have another squad of Tankbustas... didn't need a full second squad, only a few to top up the first squad, but figured may as well do them all together.

The troops for the tournament army, a squad of Grots and a squad of Boyz.

And some of the Orky Aegis line and Quad Gun I painted for the army.

I have almost finished a truk, which just leaves 4 warbuggies to paint (although I have 7 so will probably paint them all together anyway) and the tournament army is complete. Then I have about 30 boyz, 10 burnas and 5 flashgitz and my backlog for this particular army is done, and it'll be just about picking up/converting what I fancy... which will be a battlewagon or two at some point as I have some Landraiders gathering dust, I would probably expand the size of the flashgitz squad as those guyz are fun and fit the theme, and will certainly be looting a goliath at some point just because it's  an awesome freaking model... but getting close to the end with this little project, which feels good, like I've achieved something in the hobby this year. Go me.

Deffskulls: Does It Come In Blue?

If you want it in blue Mr Waaaghyne, you shall have to wait a little longer before taking it for a test dr... oh, never mind...
